The growth of Crowdfunding sites comes with vagueness of the law for the donors

France Liberte Egalite FraterniteCrowdfunding is trendy. This new means of finding funds to see a project trough is developing fast thanks to the internet. In the beginning the movement benefited artists and writers who saw their music or literary compositions rejected by advisors and publishing houses. From this point onwards, Artists, CEO’s for profit and nonprofit enterprises would take advantage of Crowdfunding platforms to collect funds.

On the other hand side, individuals wishing to chose projects or to invest sometimes with a loss, donate or lend money. The model is globally the same: requestors present their projects, quantify their needs and everything is made public via an online Crowdfunding platform. If the desired sum is obtained in the assigned time, the project is financed – otherwise all donors get their money back.

WiSeed FranceOn paper this is simple enough; the problem is that as more and more Crowdfunding sites appear, they all adopt a different model. This results in perfect opacity because depending on the financing model chosen, the outcome for the investors is quite different.
