PENSCO, a leading alternative asset custodian helping investors buy, hold and divest non-publicly traded investments in tax-advantaged accounts, today announced that Stephen J. George, founder and managing partner at Omaha-based Panorama Point Partners, an innovative private equity partnership, has joined the company’s Board.
Mr. George’s appointment comes as PENSCO reports growing demand for private equity. It is the fastest-growing alternative asset class held by PENSCO clients in their retirement accounts, with 50% of new PENSCO accounts in 2013 being in the form of a private fund, private placement, or other type of private equity deal.
CEO of PENSCO Kelly Rodriques stated,“Investment opportunities in private equity are growing, and have become only more accessible to individual investors via crowdfunding platforms and new private equity marketplaces. Stephen is a widely respected and distinguished figure in the private equity space, and his addition to our board will help us chart a course for growth that includes both meeting the needs of PENSCO’s individual investor clients and maximizing opportunities with private equity fund sponsors, private placement issuers and third-party private equity crowdfunding platform partners.”
Panorama Point Partners invests and works with promising private companies, providing both highly-flexible financial capital and strategic business development support. Currently, it is working to become the world’s most flexible, dynamic, and rewarding private equity partnership.
Mr. George noted, “Our investment in PENSCO underscores the fact that we are very excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for the company as increasing numbers of individual investors begin to incorporate alternative investments into their long-term retirement planning. I have spent the majority of my career helping institutional investors leverage alternative strategies and now I hope to leverage the depth and breadth of that experience to make these types of opportunities available to individual investors too.”
George has had a twenty-five year history in private equity and investment management. Prior to founding Panorama he was the co-founder and chief investment officer at Capricorn Investment Group. Earlier in his career he served as a vice president at Goldman Sachs in an investment management capacity. He graduated with honors from Cornell University, and is a CFA Charter holder.
