Campaigns Provided Free Localized Support by BNN Funding.
CommitChange, a crowdfunding platform for nonprofit fundraising, and BNN Funding, a crowdfunding media marketing company, announce the launch of a collaborative program to make crowdfunding more relevant and accessible to community nonprofits on #GivingTuesday and the holiday season.
The third annual #GivingTuesday, the brainchild of New York’s 92nd Street Y, will take place on December 2, 2014. #GivingTuesday is a national day to think of others and give to charities; consider it the fourth “money spending” day following Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and CyberMonday. It is t trule the shopping day most aligned to the spirit of the holiday season.
The program changes nonprofit crowdfunding two ways:
- Nonprofits can now conduct crowdfunding campaigns on the domain name of their choice, including their existing website, and
- Campaigns are provided free localized marketing support by BNN Funding through The Breaking News Network (“BNN”), a 400 city community news network.
How it works
To participate, nonprofits create a campaign on the CommitChange crowdfunding platform. CommitChange empowers nonprofits to rapidly launch high-performance crowdfunding campaigns, embed them into any website, and provides a range of donor engagement features. Additionally, CommitChange is the only nonprofit fundraising platform that takes no percentage of donations. For campaigns associated with #GivingTuesday and the 2014 holiday, CommitChange’s monthly subscription fees will be waived until January 1, 2015.
Local social marketing support is facilitated by The Breaking News Network (BNN), the largest noncommercial hyperlocal media network committed to social impact, covering over 400 cities globally. The unique media feature of the network is providing over 7,000 civic groups, arts organization and nonprofits a media voice through their city news feeds. Every nonprofit who opens a CommitChange campaign is authorized to broadcast their participation in #GivingTuesday and other community news through the BNN.
“We believe every civic group, nonprofit organization and social enterprise will inevitably have their own dedicated crowdfunding platform. The first goal of the CommitChange #GivingTuesday program is to show nonprofits how easily crowdfunding can be integrated into their community outreach during the holiday giving season.” says Patrick Kitano, CEO of BNN Funding. “The second goal is to provide nonprofits with the local media marketing infrastructure for crowdfunding campaigns so they can reach and engage their constituents in fundraising for social good.”
Roderick Campbell, CEO, CommitChange;
“We’re excited to work with BNN Funding to further this year’s #GivingTuesday movement. We believe this collaboration will push crowdfunding to new limits and help nonprofits reach previously unimaginable goals.”
CommitChange builds fundraising tools that help nonprofits raise more money and create lasting relationships with their supporters. BNN Funding provides the social capital, the advocacy foundation and localized media support across 400 cities for nonprofit crowdfunding.
