PhotoSpotLand, a platform dedicated to traveling and photography, recently launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Invesdor to raise £75,000 (max £200,000) as it prepares for expansion. The website is dedicated to those who both love to travel and photography who can share the best location/events for shooting photos.

PhotoSpotLand 1The PhotoSpotLand’s team states that on the business side, they describe it as a service business for tourist boards and travel operators, and they noted they curate a stream of crowd source PhotoSpots” to attract more visitors and their goal is not to just share photos, but also share the expertise and inspiration of photography.

“Travel and Photography are inextricably linked. As Susan Sontag wrote, ‘travel becomes a strategy for accumulating photographs.’ Today’s travellers want photographs that allow them to express their own creativity and rise above tourist status. PhotoSpotLand is a web/mobile platform which will become a one stop shop for passionate travelers and photographers.”

PhotoShopLand’s users are currently from more than 50 countries throughout five continents. The company also helps tourist locations by helping them to promote offerings from consumer perspective and add practical and technical information for directions to nearest hotels, food, accessibility and other information.

PhotoSpotLand 3“Travel and Photography are linked and both are growing markets. Travellers want to take great photos of the places they visit and photographers will visit great destinations to obtain the photos they want – the two activities go hand in hand. The Travel industry uses photos to create a sense of place, to create a desire to visit and know the place better. PhotoSpotLand bridges these two needs by providing crowd sourced images and information for travellers and photographers and simultaneously a direct channel for the travel companies, tour operators and tourist boards. When our user discover a PhotoSpot, we enrich information creating a reason-why to visit.”

Since its launch, the campaign has successfully secured more than £25,000. It is set to close on September 22nd.
