Assetz Capital Continues UK P2P Expansion with Scotland Appointment

Assetz Capital is continuing its strategy of establishing a local presence across the UK with the appointment of Ian Craig as Regional Relationship Director to help manage operations in Scotland. The appointment comes as Assetz Capital says growth in Scotland continues with a target of £50 million in lending (subject to two upcoming completions). Assetz Capital says it is well on its way to becoming the second largest alternative finance lender in Scotland.

Craig will be responsible for helping local Scottish businesses acquire finance through the peer-to-peer platform and ensure borrowing with Assetz Capital runs seamlessly.Craig previously was working in the Scottish SME Banking team for Bank of Scotland as a Relationship Director, where he managed business client relationships across all sectors, helping customers deliver their strategic goals through his experience, support and the delivery of great funding packages. Craig will now work alongside the Assetz Capital Edinburgh based team of Regional Relationship Directors.

“With over 50% of our green energy loans portfolio generated in Scotland, the region holds special value to us as a business, our milestones and our core values of sustainability,” explained Stuart Law, CEO of Assetz Capital. “We’re thrilled to have Ian as part of the team – his wealth of experience and local knowledge makes him the perfect hire to continue our exponential growth in Scotland.”

Craig called his an appointment an exciting step as he joins the fast growing P2P lender;

“Together with the other members of the Scotland team, I’ll work to grow Assetz Capital’s already impressive presence in the region, alerting SMEs to the benefits of peer to peer lending and guiding them through the lending process.”

Founded in 2013, Assetz Capital says it is now the fifth largest P2P platform in Europe, and one of the fastest growing in the market. Investors on Assetz Capital have earned a gross interest of more than £24 million since launch in 2013, with over £295 million lent to date. Assetz Capital uses a secured lending model where every loan is backed with property, and/or other realisable security in order to reduce the risk of actual loss for investors.
