CrowdStreet Says Capital Distributions More than Doubled in 2019

Real estate investment platform CrowdStreet says that capital distributions in 2019 more than doubled the total amount of capital distributed back to investors on the platform since 2014. Over$57 million in capital was distributed to platform investors during the year.

Launched in 2014, CrowdStreet has raised over $919 million distributing more than $90 million since inception. The investment platform pegs IRR at around 29% – overall. According to the CrowdStreet site, 367 commercial real estate offerings have been listed with 20 of those offerings being “fully realized.” Like most investments, it takes some time for investment goals to be achieved.

CrowdStreet is a platform catering to accredited investors – individuals that earn over $200,000 a year or have a net worth of over $ 1 million. Of note, is the expectation that the Securities and Exchange Commission is planning to broaden the definition at some point in 2020 so a bigger audience may be able to participate in the CrowdStreet offerings.

As it stands today, individual investors may participate in either a fund or single property investment for $25,000 and up. Both debt and equity offerings are available on the CrowdStreet platform.
