Gustave Le Bon wrote: ” the real democratic success is not lowering the elite to the level of the masses but to lift the masses towards the elite”. Isn’t Crowdfunding enabling the realization of this ambitious line of thought? Communal financing has indeed been limited to charitable initiatives since the 18th century. The internet has totally diversified this idea, updated and applied it to the most diverse domains imaginable.

La “foule”, en finançant des projets qui “lui” tiennent à cœur, devient le décideur, le financier et en partie le bénéficiaire en cas de succès.

“Le véritable progrès démocratique n’est pas d’abaisser l’élite au niveau de la foule, mais d’élever la foule vers l’élite”, a écrit Gustave Le Bon. Le “crowdfunding”, littéralement le “financement par la foule”, n’est-il pas en train de permettre la réalisation cette pensée ambitieuse ? Le financement communautaire était en effet depuis le XVIIIe siècle cantonné aux actions de charité. L’Internet a totalement diversifié cette activité et l’a remise au goût du jour dans les domaines les plus variés et imaginables.
