From the page of Forbes, Devin Thorpe declares Crowdfunding to play a major role in Social Entrepreneurship for 2013:
Crowdfunding will become an integral, ongoing part of managing nonprofits and growing for-profit social enterprises. Crowdfunding for social ventures and nonprofits will exceed $1 billion, representing about 20% of all crowdfunding.
So one way to look at this the prediction for ALL crowd funding expected to be around $5 Billion. We will let you know one year from now.
That being said, it is difficult to ignore the incredible impact Crowdfunding has had on social causes and helping those less fortunate than ourselves. The recent events regarding Hurricane Sandy and how quickly the crowdfunding world came together to assist is just one prime example.
