Oldie Käfer Tour Berlin has launched a campaign on the German equity crowdfunding site Welcome Investment. For as little as 1€, backers may invest in the future of Oldie Käfer Tour Berlin. The tour company hopes to secure its goal of 50,000€ for 5.9% equity. Funding from the campaign will be used to expand the Punch Buggy fleet, set up a small retail store to accommodate both a booking agent and souvenirs/merchandise products. In the long term, Oldie Käfer Tours could be started in other cities.
Co-Founded by Sven Brandenburg and Olaf Brandenburg in 2013, the company was partly inspired by Trabi-Safari tour company. The affectionately nicknamed Trabi was East Germany’s most commonly driven vehicle, derisively remembered with its host of problems and overall unreliability. Each time I rode in a Trabi, I could always see the road — under my feet, like a Flintstone. VW Bugs by reputation are more reliable, if not more internationally loved.
What better way to see Berlin than in a vintage VW Beetle? The tour guide and driver leads the caravan around Berlin with VW T2 bus, behind the VW like ducks in row Volkswagen Beetle model years 1969 until 1997 closely follow. Tourists may either sit in the back of a VW bus, or at the wheel of their own VW Beetle. The VW convoy will surely awaken memories of youth and summers of love! The tour’s emphasis is on “fun, attention – and a little bit of adventure.” While enjoying their “Beetle experience,” the tour takers also listen to fun and informative details from the Oldie Käfer Tour guide via car radio. Oldie Käfer Tours begin and end at City-West, a convenient site deliberately chosen in Berlin’s Europa Center.
Oldie Käfer Tour Berlin targets a variety of demographics: “While one tour group comes to explore the sights of the city in a vintage car, other groups are interested in sitting (again!) behind the wheel of a VW Beetle or riding in one of the historic vehicles. The fun factor is high. The experience is designed for Berlin visitors and tourists and Berliners who want to satisfy their desire for a special experience in a vibrant European metropolis.”
The company also seeks to go beyond typical individual tours and initiate more private engagements such as weddings, company outings and milestone birthday parties. Entrepreneurs may also utilize Oldie Käfer Tour Berlin to incentivize and reward employees, motivate employees, team build, and offer company outings. Additionally Oldie Käfer Tour Berlin hopes to link with hotel and tour operators: “The VW Beetle is the carrier of feelings and desires. Against the Berlin backdrop, there is also a willingness to spend a reasonable and ‘higher’ fee for such an experience, in contrast to the typical city tour on a bus.”
The company is incentivizing its investors with tours of Berlin, including:
- Investment from € 250: A free ride in a little beetle
- Investment from € 500: A free ride in a larger beetle
- Investment from € 1,000: Two free rides in beetles
- Investment from € 5,000: an arranged city tour for several people
