San Francisco-based Scribble Technology launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for its innovative pen, Scribble. The pen can scan colors from any object and instantly reproduces the color on paper or a digital screen (using the Scribble stylus).
With Scribble, scanning and capturing any color is easy and fast. Instructions are to simply hold the pen up to any object with color such as a wall, fruit, book or magazine, and within seconds the color is stored in its internal memory. Once the color is stored, it can then be used to draw on paper or even on a digital screen.
Features of the Scribble include the following:
- Choose your nib size: Offers a fantastic range of stroke weights. Choose from fine to heavy depending on the mood.
- Mobile compatible: Scribble can sync colors to a mobile app when on the go. Scan and sync any color instantly from the Scribble pen or stylus to any iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
- Program custom colors: Can add and draw without worrying about what is captured in the pen sensor.
- Lightfast long lasting ink: The Scribble ink is both lightfast and water resistant.
It is noted that both the Scribble stylus and ink can hold thousands of different colors and reproduce them exactly. Scribble will literally replace a box full of crayons or marking pens, along with make color reproduction fast and simple for any project. One of Scribble’s key features is it replaces thousands or pens and thereby greatly reduces the huge amount of plastic waste.
Explaining how the pen was created, the team wrote,“We’ve been in the design process for two years and the Scribble has gone through various design changes to get it to where we are now, a working prototype that’s ready for use in home and business applications. Because of its small size we have created a number of innovations never seen before in the color reproduction industry.
Set to close on September 15th, the Scribble campaign has already raised $328,000 from 1,700 backers.
