The events surrounding the shooting death in the small town of  Ferguson, Missouri have certainly been tragic and unfortunate.  But occasionally some events that inspire rise to the surface contrasting despair with hope.  Natalie’s Cakes and More, operated by Natalie Dubose from Ferguson, saw here business damaged during the riots at the peak of her season.  Collateral damage like this can be heartbreaking – especially for a small business owner and entrepreneur.  But Natalie has benefited by the generosity of others having launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe hoping to raise $20,000 but doing ten times that – and more.

Over 6300 individuals have contributed to Natalie’s Cakes and More Fund and as it stands today – on day one – the campaign is over $208,000.  Natalie describers herself as a “small business owner with a cake shop and a bakery dream”.  It appears this dream will still continue as she thanked her many supporters;

I’m overwhelmed by the amazing generosity I’m receiving. The love, attention, support, the Natalies Cakes and More Examplemany, many people stopping by to say hello, the offers of assistance, the letters, the anonymous donations, the lovely letters, flowers, telephone calls, media support, and the support of the people of Ferguson.

Thank you for the wonderful comments, I can’t wait to read them all.

I am truly and humbly blessed.

Over 600 comments on the GoFundMe have mostly lauding her efforts.  Perhaps she has garnered so much support due to national reflection regarding the pointless violence and senseless destruction that has recently occurred in the wake of the grand jury announcement.
