Commercial air travel really sucks these days. You pay high fares to wait in long lines, to sit in seats sized for children, only to endure endless hours of delays. I fly a good amount and I could go on. I love to travel and I remember back in the day when the food was better (or just actually served) and the seats were large. It would be really nice to call up a private jet just like a car service. Unfortunately that is a bit pricey and not in the cards for the near future.
Perhaps there is another option? Small private planes reserved just like UBER?
OpenAirplane is planning on doing just that and they are raising capital on SeedInvest now. Their plane rental service launched in 2013 as a marketplace for aircraft rental serving pilots.
The next step in the equation is to match travelers with a new charter service. The founders note that commercial travel service is only getting worse (something everyone can agree upon). OpenAirplane wants to provide an on-demand service where you pay only a bit more than commercial flights.
If you think this is a good idea OpenAirplane is doing a seed round on SeedInvest. They are looking to raise $500,000 on a pre-money valuation of $1.5 million.
