Brief: Indiegogo Alum “HUNKY DORY” Premieres at Slamdance 2016; Receives Honorable Mention For Acting-Narrative Feature Award

This week, newly Indiegogo success Hunky Dory premiered at the 2016 Slamdance festival. The event, which was held on January 22nd-29th in Park City, is described as a showcase for raw and innovative filmmaking self-governed –By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers. 

Hunky DoryThe creators hit the crowdfunding platform last month with a mission to finish production and to get the film to the festival. Its story reads:

“Sidney never gave up his rock-and-roll lifestyle. He’s a good father, but he’s reckless in his own life. After Sidney’s ex disappears, he’s forced to look after his son full-time. His ‘cool dad’ facade crumbles and his life goes into full tailspin.”

Directed by Michael Curtis, Hunky Dory stars Tomas Pais and Edouard Holdener. Not only did the film premiere at Slamdance, it also received honorable mention for narrative feature. The judges stated:

“Two breakout performances; a heartfelt story about love and families, both biological and chosen.”
