Energy Tech Firm Vagalume Energía Closes Successful Crowdcube Spain Funding Round

vagalume energiaWith the confidence of 43 private investors, the Spanish energy tech firm Vagalume Energy secured 228,620€ on Crowdcube with an average investment of 5,316€.  Grupo Innoven Inversiones, led by Raúl Guerrero Gómez, a business angel of RedInvest,  as well as other investments from other professionals from the energy sector endorsed the project. Funding will be to develop its national business through a system of franchises and expand internationally.

vagalumeIn 2016 it plans to complete the necessary funding with an ENISA Competitividad participation loan of euro 250,000€ (they already obtained an ENISA loan of euro 65,000 in 2013). Vagalume intends to multiply its business trifold in 2016 targeting growth of its national projects and the execution a number of projects in Cuba, Mexico and Panama.

Vagalume Energía is an integral energy consultancy firm specialising in energy self-consumption projects and the reduction of energy consumption by means of the implementation of renewable energy and measures of energy efficiency.

Alejandro DíazFounded in 2012 by Alejandro Díaz González, a marine biologist with a Master’s degree in Environmental Management Systems, and now headquartered in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, the company hopes to open its first international office in México D.F. during 2Q 2106. Vagalume performs an integral analysis of its clients’ energy profile and designs, executes and maintains turnkey projects aimed at saving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and improving energy efficiency in facilities.

In 2014 Díaz was awarded the “Premio al Joven Empresario del Año” (Young Entrepreneur of the Year award) for his business project (AJE Pontevedra) and in 2015 the company received the “Premio Cantábrico Excelente” to the best energy efficiency company of the Spanish Northern area.

Since its inception in July 2014, Crowdcube Spain has raised nearly 3.4 million euros for 22 businesses. One of the few platforms to be accredited by ACCIÓ, Crowdfunding Spain is currently in the process of being registered as a crowdfunding platform with Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
