On Wednesday, Captain America: Civil War directors, Anthony and Joseph Russo, announced they have joined forces with writer/director Jay Alvarez to produce Indiegogo funding project, Dizzy Pursuit. Alvarez and his team hit the crowdfunding platform earlier this week to raise nearly $30,000 for the production of the film.
Dizzy Pursuit is described as a feature-length comedy about relationships in a tight place. The film follows a couple, Adam and Carly, that is living a “starving artist” lifestyle (i.e. forced to live in a cockroach-invested apartment and putting their money only towards independent filmmaking). One day, Adam’s mother shows up and refuses to leave the apartment, and competes with auditioning actors for his attention. Once she finally leaves the couple’s home, Carly’s brother, Steven, shows up with the purpose to type for her family back home. Steven then reports to the family about how squalid and dangerous Adam’s environment is for Carly.
Funds from the campaign will go towards the production of the film, which includes:
Crew (30%): To ensure the film looks and sounds great. - Cast (26%): To cover ultra-low budget minimum rates.
- Food (12%): To provide meals during the course of the 21-day production.
- Data (6%): To back up all the film and its materials.
- Production Expenses (17%): Covers set construction, costume and all props.
Backers of the project will receive various rewards such as DVD/Blu-ray copies, cockroach cookies, bed bug brownies, shadowboxes, Napa Valley Weekend Getaway, and even The Avengers: Infinity War set passes. The Russo Brothers shared their support for the film on Facebook and encouraged their fans to join in on the funding efforts.
The campaign is set to close at the end of June.
