CrowdRise Ambassador Seeks $30,000 in 24 Hours to Give 30 Women in Ethiopia Access to Jobs

Social entrepreneur and CrowdRise ambassador, Mallory Brown, has launched a 24-Hour Impact Project through the crowdfunding platform to raise $30,000 as a way to help 30 women in Ethiopia to gain employment.

EthiopiaAccording to CrowdRise, Mallory is collaborating with local charities Begin with One and Children’s Hope Chest to create a sustainable employment program for 30 Ethiopian women of Chapa, Ethiopia. The village’s women will choose between three jobs – running a mill house, working in a barber shop, and raising livestock.  Each woman will receive training, supplies, and ongoing financial literacy support.

Mallory stated:

“I fell in love with Ethiopia the first time I visited, and I am so proud to be back here thanks to CrowdRise. It’s a really powerful thing to know that in 24 hours, we’ll change the lives of these 30 incredible and inspiring women in Chapa. And it’s not just me — 29 women from home who share my passion for making meaningful change in the lives of others have committed to raising money for people they’ve never met. It’s awesome and humbling. Together, I am hoping we can raise the funds to empower the women of Chapa in business, and help end the cycle of poverty.”

The CrowdRise 24-Hour Impact Project has produced 8 inspirational and engaging flash fundraisers for many causes across four continents. Each ambassador is selected to find an important cause, raise the funds to make a change in 24 hours.

For her ambassador role, Mallory has built a community center in Mexico, secured a home for a family in Haiti, helped expand sanitation efforts in Nepal,  and provided a permanent home for a community BBQ in Detroit
