Indiegogo-funded series Her Story received a nomination for the 2016 Emmy Awards, which will be held on September 18th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The series is described as a new media series that looks inside the dating lives of trans and queer women as they navigate the intersections of desire and identity. The synposis reads:
“The plot centers around two trans women in Los Angeles who have given up on love, when suddenly chance encounters give them hope. Violet is drawn to Allie, a reporter who approaches her for an interview, while career-driven Paige meets James, the first man she’s considered opening up to in years.”
Her Story was nominated in the Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program, which was reportedly established in 2011 at the 63rd Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. According to ET, the program recognizes the ever-evolving expansive world of streaming series. It now has four new categories, which are animation, comedy or drama, nonfiction of reality, and variety as well as two actor and actress categories for series on sites like YouTube and Vimeo.
“The potential for the future has burst open. It feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work of a lot of different people on our team. From conception of the show to the point we are here, we just had a mindset of, ‘We may have not done this before, but why not? Why not aim for the best of what is available to us?”
