Cotswolds Distillery Secures Over £1 Million During Latest Crowdfunding Initiative

On Friday, the Cotswolds Distillery announced it raised more than £1 million in just one month during its latest crowdfunding initiative. The company previously secured £1 million through the Angels’ Share campaign on Crowdbnk.

As previously reported, the Cotswolds Distillery was founded in 2013 and began operations in September 2014. It produces maturing stocks of whiskey at the rate of 175,000 bottles equivalent per annum and has introduced a range of other branded spirits to the market including gin, espresso martini, liqueurs, and fruit brandies. The distillery revealed it sells over 100,000 bottles of its Cotswolds Dry Gin, which was named ‘World’s Best London Dry Gin’ at the 2016 World Gin Awards, in 16 countries worldwide. The company also noted:

“Although the company has only been trading since 2014, it is now a well-established business that is well ahead of its initial plan on all key metrics: whisky production, gin sales, export sales and overall revenues. The Cotswolds Distilleries’ products have achieved very strong reviews from customers  and expert reviewers alike, with noted whisky writer Jim Murray recently awarding its young single malt 94 out of 100 points and classifying it as Liquid Gold.”

While sharing details about the investment, Founder and CEO of Cotswold Distillery, Daniel Szor, stated:

“We are overjoyed by this great vote of confidence in the company. Our ambitious plans for the future can now be realised thanks to the fantastic investor demand we’ve seen in this recent round. Premium spirits is an exciting and fast-growing sector, and we believe the opportunities for such a progressive brand, like The Cotswolds Distillery, are limitless.”

The Cotswold Distillery added that it plans to launch its flagship product, Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky, this October. The beverage features local barley, has been rated as “Liquid Gold,” and scored 94 out of 100 points from renowned whiskey writer Jim Murray in both the 2016 and 2017 editions of his Whisky Bible.
