GLS Crowdfunds €300,000 for Wind Energy

The GLS crowd, the first crowdfund platform initiated by a bank, has successfully funded their second project since their platform launch on 1 February 2017. Dachsbach UG & Co. KG, a Bavarian wind farm, was able to collect their target of €300,000 in only 14 hours.

The wind farm is expected to being operation in June 2017, producing five megawatt hours of electricity per year. This environmentally sustainable energy can power approximately 2,500 four-person households. One hundred and ten investors were involved in the crowdfunding round with the option of investing a minimum of €250 with an annual interest rate of 4% and a 10.5 year term.

In addition, investors also receive the possibility of a one-time interest bonus of 8% of the outstanding loan amount in 2027. The only prerequisite is that the actual average annual revenues reach or exceed the planned average annual revenues based off of their economic analysis.

The developer and Manager of Dachsbach UG & Co. KG., Marcus Dornauer, stated:

“So far, wind energy only accounts for three percent of the electricity mix in Bavaria. By 2021, this will be expanded to ten percent, according to the Bavarian energy concept. The wind farm in Dachsbach makes an important contribution to achieving this goal.”
