What the Ghostbird Kickstarter tells us about the future of fundraising

Joining the project among the ranks of successful theatre-related Kickstarters, Florida Repertory Theatre’s Chris Clavelli also reached his $5,000 fundin goal. Clavelli plans to mound a full production of his one-man show “A Little More Than You Wanted to Spend”  in New York City in June by New Dog at The Drilling CompaNY.

For the uninitiated, Kickstarter is really just a way of asking for money on the Internet. Have a project? Need cash to get it off the ground? Make a video – and sell yourself to the world.

Kickstarter enjoys a unique rewards system. Pitching a project? Promise your backers rewards based on how much they give. For “Miss Julie,” donors can earn everything from a mention on the Ghostbird Facebook page to copies of composer Philip Heubeck’s original score to tickets and original pieces of the set.
