Obduction Meets $1.1 Million Kickstarter Goal, Eyes Stretch Goals In Final Two Days

$1.1 million is an ambitious goal no matter what the project, but the developers at Cyan, Inc. set and met this lofty goal for their new game Obduction.

Cyan, Inc. is the same company that created Myst back in 1993. Myst was the best-selling PC game in history for almost a decade before being oustered by The Sims in 2002. The team at Cyan Worlds is known for their unique style of creating games. Myst was very immersive and gamers could only find success by exploring every single part of the game’s map. Obduction looks to be cut from the same mold…

And, as anyone who ever played Myst or Riven knows, exploring everything around you allows you to read between the lines and to begin to answer your questions. Why is there an old, abandoned farmhouse – complete with white picket fence – in the middle of an alien landscape? You’ll find out. From this point on the story becomes your story.

The campaign has raised about $1.17 million at the time of writing. A stretch goal has been set for $1.3 million that will bring Oculus Rift support to the game. Over 13,000 backers have pledged funds to the campaign so far. 10,500 of those have chipped in at the $25 “Gimme The Game” pledge level, which includes backer-only access to an exclusive Obduction forum.

Obduction is slated for release on PC and Mac in October of 2015.
