Vessyl Cup Now Over $1 Million in Presales

Vessyl Shadow on Black - ONVessyl Cup, a project in the midst of a pretail crowdfunding campaign, has shared they have passed by the $1 million mark.  The smart cup project was announced this past June by San Francisco based Mark One with an original target of raising $50,000 in funding.  The cup is designed to automatically monitor your consumption helping the user to make healthier choices (or to just understand they are making bad ones too).    Mark One has also brought on some additional executive fire power by hiring former Senior Global Design Director at Nike, Jason Mayden, as VP of Design.

Mark One was co-founded by Justin Lee and Yves Behar, and is a consumer brand that wants to build desirable products that engage, inform, and inspire you to make healthier choices in real time. The Vessyl is the company’s very first product.

VessylYves BeharVessyl tracks usage throughout the day – from “coffee to beer”.  The device measures calories, fats, sugars and even caffeine. The technology “removes the tedious guesswork from manual entry and journaling, providing personalized insights on what you’re consuming and actionable feedback on how to meet your health goals”. Pour any liquid into Vessyl and within seconds, its advanced sensing technology breaks down the fluid to a molecular level and instantly recognizes key pieces of information such as:

  • Beverage type – Vessyl’s ultra sensitive technology immediately detects if the beverage is, for example, milk or juice. Vessyl can even tell the difference between brands such as Pepsi and Coke.
  • Caloric makeup – See how many calories are really in your drink, as well as other information such as total grams of sugar, fat, protein, sodium, and caffeine.
  • Pryme – Unique to Vessyl, Pryme estimates your hydration needs to keep you performing at your best.
  • Quantity – Track exactly how much you’re consuming each day and how this relates to your personal intake goals.

Justin LeeMark One will also be releasing a “limited edition” version in black.

So if you are a calorie counter – this is for you.  All the rest of us can just stick to water.
