Kickstarter Success Protestify Renames to “Scopio”

After the launch of their beta site and a successful Kickstarter campaign, Scopio, formerly known as Protestify, entered the realm of breaking events this week in an attempt to connect social media-savvy users with global events and large campaigns.

Scopio LogoAlthough the young company has changed its name, its focus remains the same: empowering the average social media user to create their own accounts of world events in real time, then connect them to locations, brands, and news outlets. With a new website and new services available, Scopio will efficiently track the impact and influence of images being posted across the globe.

While Protestify, as the name suggests, was geared towards tracking protests, Scopio will broaden its focus to all hashtag-driven campaigns and events, including the effects of conferences, natural disasters, brand marketing, upcoming elections, and more. A platform called Protestify will still be under the umbrella of Scopio and deal with global social movements that miss the eye of mainstream media. Users will be able to create and upload media with the hashtag #protestify, then allow the site to connect them with news outlets, who will pay for their submission.

In addition to hosting the Protestify platform, Scopio will be dedicated to four other main products. Campaigner allows users to monitor specific hashtags relevant to their company or brand.  Social Visualizer provides up-to-the-minute charts, graphics, and trends to create custom visualizations for live social programs. Media Guru gives news outlets the chance to connect with photographers in real-time and purchase their work.

Finally, the API Plugin gives big businesses their own custom dashboard, displaying a constantly evolving feed of the trending topics that pertain to them. Scopio also compiles uploaded photographs that cover a range of subjects, such as fashion, food, sports, and travel, using a similar model to the one pioneered by Protestify.

Nour ChamounScopio is looking towards even further development, hoping to give users new opportunities to receive and share real-time information about the issues that matter most to them. Scopio’s Interaction Designer, Nour Chamoun, has stated:

“Through our data visualizations, we bring value in offering users access to photo and video content in real time, pushing the future of visual information to the present.”

On their new site, users will be able to browse between the categories of Microstock, Visualization, Hashtag Analytics, and Data services, all in efforts to track hashtags, view their use, and mobilize the causes they stand for.

Through these categories, Scopio has innovated new ways to track images and videos, encourages users not only to upload their photos, but to drive the conversation forward through a burgeoning method of sharing content – hashtags. Scopio has turned its feed into a marketplace for personal, timely stories. Manoj PooleeryScopio’s Chief Technology Officer, Manoj Pooleery, noted:

“We are different than other rights management companies or analytics companies, because we treat this as a ‘big data problem’ that we are determined to solve!”

The Scopio founding team prides themselves on “identifying the flow and relationships of stories across different sources and visualizing them in a more innovative way,” making them not only more entertaining, but more accessible. Soon, Scopio will be adding an Instagram account and creating a curation team to supplement the eleven highly technological members of the company.
