Gluten-Free Food Company “Feel Free” Seeks £200,000 on Crowdcube to Scale Up Production of Multi-Award Winning Donuts

Feel Free, a Selby-based company that specializes in gluten-free treats, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise £200,000 for the production of its award-winning donuts.

The company, which was founded by Sally and Stuart Allister, shared:

Feel Free 1“At Feel Free our aim is to disrupt peoples perceptions of gluten free food, by creating delicious gluten and wheat free foods. We develop products that people miss from their diets and look for those key gaps in the market. With the market being driven by those consumers choosing to eat gluten free as a life style choice it is vitally important that our products meet their expectations.


“Feel Free have succeed in surprising taste buds with our award winning gluten and wheat free donuts!  With a quirky marketing campaign prior to launch, our donut song and ‘donut face’ competition word spread quickly around the Free From market place of the iminent launch on our website. Launched in late 2014 pre orders were taken to manage demand with our contract manufacturer.


Feel Free 4“Acquiring our own dedicated gluten free manufacturing facility in March 2015 gave us the confidence, capacity and security in  our supply chain allowing us to commit to orders for our delicious savory and sweet frozen products. Then our donuts won best Teatime product at the Free From Food Awards in April 2015. We quickly secured listings with two retailers for our donuts and are currently engaged in negotiations with two other UK retailers, Food service providers and export enquiries from the EU.


“Whilst our donuts are amazing, we do not want production of our delicious pastries and sweet bakery products to be overshadowed or compromised – we are now looking for this funding in order to extend our manufacturing to have a dedicated donut production facility, where we can fulfill current and new customer requests without having a negative impact on the rest of production. We will also be able to add further value to the donut ‘offer’ with mini, filled and glazed donuts – after all everybody loves donuts!”

Besides scaling up the production of donuts, the company plans to use the funds for  expansion of dedicated gluten-free manufacturing site to ensure capacity is sufficient for all frozen lines due to secured listings of DonutsInvest in Technical assistance to gain BRC accreditation on the manufacturing site.
