With 60 days remaining on their Companisto campaign, MyCouchbox founders Sarah Haide and Clemens Walter are closing in on their 100,000€ minimum goal.  To date, the campaign has raised over 72,150€ from 132 investors. Valued at 1,200,000€, MyCouchbox is the leading German surprise snack box and sends sweet and salty snacks to thousands of households every month.

Sarah Haide“Thanks to our partnerships with producers, we get the products for free and introduce them to customers, which may then rate every single product,” posted MyCouchbox. “Our company has been profitable from the beginning, and we expect 2015 to be a profitable year as well.”

Vorsicht Lecker! According to the campaign video, Haide and Walter launched MyCouchbox after discussing the idea for a few weeks and on a 400€ shoestring budget.  Starting with 50 test boxes, the first round of MyCouchbox surprise boxes sold out after 80 minutes when we launched it and may now be ordered through a monthly subscription, a one-time order or as a gift.

“That was really amazing.  We used a small test budget to determine if anyone would buy our product.” Walter continued, “and by the way, we still employ this lean startup method.”

MyCouchbox cracked the 1000 customer mark on the same day Germany won the World Cup, months before the projected date, Haide noted in the video. Winning ZDF’s “Kampf der Start-ups” in June also increased interest in the company, citing the company as the “best business model” seen on the show by one of the judges thus far.  Offering snacks form over 160 brands, according to the campaign video, the startup posted a profit in 2014, aiming to make 360,000€ in 2015 and in 2016 to hit the million euro mark.

Crowdfund Insiders may recall the delicacy box startup Foodist, which also delivered a  successful edibles campaign on Companisto in July and now is a competitor of MyCouchbox.  For more detailed financial information about MyCouchbox,  Companisto’s 49th campaign, please view the video below or click here.
