BoroughBox, a London curated distributor of artisanal produce, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Crowd2Fund to £120,000 for sales, marketing and technology expansion. This campaign launches just six months after the company debuted its first funding project on UK-based Seedrs.
Launched in the summer of 2014 by Andrew Lawson, BoroughBox is a specialist artisan and fine foods curator with branded gifts and an online “foodie” marketplace. Products available through the BoroughBox website include hampers, food gifts, fine food gifts, cheeses, artisan produce, rare breed meats, wines, exceptional chutneys, jams, condiments, oils and spices. Each item is also available through the company’s collection of hampers and the Food Discovery Club.
While discussing BoroughBox, Lawson stated:
“Now that have laid some solid foundations for the business and proven the brand and concept works, we want to push on with aggressive growth and customer acquisition. Having smart investors for the journey makes perfect sense. The business is on trend and working with the genuine investor crowd can be great for new brand ambassadors.”
The company also revealed that with the new capital it plans to increase the number of corporate customers, and to double the amount of sellers on the marketplace by the end of the year. The breakdown of funds is shown below:
- Increased Headcount in Sales and Tech: £30,000
- Equipment: £10,000
- Search & Social Acquisition Marketing: £30,000
- Affiliate Acquisition Marketing: £30,000
- Other Sales Promotion & Acquisition Activities: £20,000
Those who invest a certain amount in the campaign will receive rewards such as various gift hampers, subscriptions and even discounts.
The company is currently offering 15% in equity through the new funding initiative.
