“Billion Dollar Bully” Documentary Returns: Kickstarter-Funded Project Seeks Addition $50,000 Through Indiegogo

Less than a year and a half after securing over $90,000 on Kickstarter,  creator of Yelp documentary Billion Dollar Bully, Kaylie Milliken, has launched an Indiegogo initiative to raise an additional $50,000 for the film’s documentary.

Billion Dollar BullyAs previously reported, Billion Dollar Bully is “a documentary on marketing giant Yelp’s $3.6 billion racket against small business owners.” It investigates the website’s past, along with business owners accusing it of extortion, manipulation, and fabrication. The film’s crew previously stated they will feature business owners from across a broad spectrum who have stepped up and agreed to tell their personal stories of Yelp’s questionable business dealings, all of which are vehemently denied by the website, who instead states all allegations are merely conspiracy theories.

At the time, spokesperson told Business Insider:

“The director has a conflict of interest, as she has a history of trying to mislead consumers on Yelp. There is no merit to the claims they appear to highlight, which have been repeatedly dismissed by courts of law, investigated by government regulators, including the FTC, and disproven by academic study.”

Milliken shared at the time:

Billion Dollar Bully 2“I have gotten a huge reaction from [Yelp], which I have to admit, I was not expecting. They’ve been aggressively denying it and trying to discredit my character and the film itself. They sent in this person to discredit me and I’m just so surprised. I mean, we’re raising money on Kickstarter to do this indie documentary. I have a lot of questions for them, and if they don’t have anything to hide, they should be open to having an open discussion about each point.”

Surprisingly, the Yelp’s shares even went down as much as 4% in afternoon trade just one day after the Kickstarter launch. Milliken and her team at Prost Productions stated that the Indiegogo funds will go to the final editing of the project. Once the initial $50,000 is achieved, the group will use additional funds for the following:

  • Color correction
  • Sound mixing
  • Animation
  • Music composition
  • 3 additional interviews

The new campaign is set to close mid-August.
