The Wild Beer Co. Nears £1 Million Funding Target First Week on Crowdcube

Earlier this week, UK-based The Wild Beer Co. launched an equity crowdfunding round on Crowdcube. The brewing company is currently £1 million as it prepares to expand and build a new 50,000 square foot, 12,000,000 1/yr capacity, destination brewery at the Bath and West Showground, which is near Stepton Mallet, Somerset.

The company, which was launched in 2012, stated that during its first four years it has exported to 22 countries and averages annual growth of more than 100%. It considers itself one of the UK’s most creative breweries due to the fact that it uses barrel-aged wild fermentation to create complex flavors and pairs the beer with food in a fusion of flavor through its bar/restaurants.

This is the dream of Brett Ellis and Andrew Cooper, who, in 2012, created a brewery that thought Wildly Different, and that encouraged you to Drink Wildly Different. We have a passion for wild fermentation and barrel [aging] to make beers with complexity and unusual flavour. We have helped create a market within the UK craft beer scene, have become world-renowned for what we do and now export to 22 countries. This isn’t just about beer, it’s about challenging perceptions, creating a movement and battling against a tradition that says only pints are beautiful and quantity is more important than quality.”

The Wild Beer Co.’s current plans are as follows:

  1. Build a new, state of the art brewery
  2. Develop its current brewery
  3. Develop its growing bar and restaurant business

The company then noted:

Our aim is to stay at the forefront of the UK wild fermentation and barrel-ageing beer scene and enable us to continue growing our business, and the industry for many years.”

Also sharing more details about the new brewery, the company explained:

“We plan to use the funds to secure the land which we estimate will cost around £1.5MM and be paid in 2 instalments. The remaining costs are estimated to be £7.8MM and will cover building, fit-out and contingency costs over the expected 24-month project. We intend to finance this with £6MM of combined mortgage and asset financing as well as operating cash flow from the combined brewery and bars business.”

Since its launch, The Wild Beer Co.’s campaign has successfully secured more than £850,000 from over 550 investors. It is set to close at the beginning of April.
