Overfunding: Ascot Brewing Company Secures £200,000 Funding Target During the Final Days on Crowdcube

UK-based brewery Ascot Brewing Company has successfully secured its initial £200,000 funding target on equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube. The campaign was launched last month seeking the funds for growth and development. The funding round has attracted more than 420 investors.

As previously reported, Ascot Brewing Company was founded in 2017 and states that it is focused on cask ale and local pub trade. It is supplied in various locations, including Wetherspoons, Co-op, Budgens, and Waitress as well as new pubs, hotels, and national retailers. The brewery was notably acquired by new Directors who have rebranded and reportedly recruited an award-winning Head Brewer.

“We have relaunched Ascot Brewing Company with new branding and also expanded the team, including the recruitment of award-winning Head Brewer, John Willatts. We have focussed on key accounts such as the Co-op, leading to extended range and listings, as well as new relationships with wholesalers to expand reach across the country. We believe this is just the beginning.”

The brewery’s beers include Final Furlong, Anastasia’s, 5/4 Favourite, Gold Cup, Thoroughbred, Starting Gate, On The Rails, Dark Horse, Accumulator, and On The Nose. In a recent update, Ascot Brewing Company announced it has launched ‘Smart Labels’ on bottles of Final Furlong in Fenwicks:

“Executing on our business plan, Ascot Brewing Company has launched the first contactless (NFC) beer bottle with the capability of extending the cask conversation and differentiating itself in the marketplace. First to do so in the UK and most probably the world.”

Funds from the Crowdcube round will go towards the following:

  • Increase brewing capacity to meet demand
  • Build the team, focusing on UK sales and export
  • Roll out contactless NFC “Smart Pump Clip” technology
  • Expand sales channels with an on-site brewery shop and online sales
  • Increase attendance at trade and consumer events with our horsebox taproom
  • Develop new products and formats including lagers, kegs, cans and new bottles.

The campaign is set to close on Friday.
