Helpfulpeeps Campaigns with Seedrs to Grow its P2P Help Network

Helpfulpeeps, a UK P2P social marketplace for local help, currently counts over 175,000 registered members through its iOS, Android and web platforms. In order to reach its aim of “building the future of local services” by using tech to match those who would like help with those who most likely can provide it, the company has synced with Seedrs to fund its mission is to build the world’s most helpful network. At this writing, Helpfulpeeps has raised more than £213,360 from 66+ Seedrs investors to help realize its mission.

Pre-valued at £2,649,051, 8.62% equity is being offered during the Seedrs raise. Funding will be used to develop Helpfulpeep’s transactional marketplace and accelerate user growth.

“In a social media dominated world that is designed to convince people to spend more time online, we wanted to create a platform that enables people to connect and help each other in the real world,” explained Helpfulpeeps on its Seedrs campaign. “Helpfulpeeps has evolved from an online platform for communities to trade favours to a more sophisticated marketplace based on user demand.

Co-founded by CEO Saf Nazeer, COO Simon Hills and CPO Dominic Chapman in 2015, Helpfulpeeps has observed an increase in the number of requests during the last 12 months, where members were willing to pay for help:

“…we are now ready to monetise our growing user base by facilitating payments and charging a commission on paid-for services.”

The network seeks to connect those who want help with those in one’s immediate community who can provide the service for free or, ultimately, for a fee. The platform will take a 15% commission on all paid transactions. To date there have been over 35K requests for help with an 88% response rate.

Jody Ford, the former eBay VP Global Growth and the current Photobox CEO, has joined Helpfulpeeps as an advisor to assist with the platform’s growth. The company seeks to make itself ripe for acquisition from a global company, similar to Ikea’s interest in TaskRabbit and eBay’s interest in Gumtree, by maintaining a local focus on a global scale.
