Fintechs, including neobanks, have been one of the hottest sectors of venture funding around the world. This segment of private capital is also one of the hottest sectors for online capital formation as entrepreneurs rush to disrupt the somewhat antediluvian banking world.
Nebeus is a neobank startup that is raising growth capital on Seedrs, and it is currently in overfunding mode.
According to the offering page, Nebeus has raised almost €1.4 million from 225 investors. The original goal was to raise €1.1 million at a pre-money valuation of €40 million.
The equity offering is secondary market approved and part of the Seedrs nominee program with an option for a direct investment at a higher investment ticket.
So what makes Nebeus interesting?
The company is combining digital assets with traditional banking services. Nebeus is registered as a Crypto custodian and Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in Spain.
In the Netherlands, Nebeus is approved as an “Outsourced Service Provider” of Modulr and authorized as an E-money institution.
In the UK, Nebeus has submitted its application to the UK FCA for a consumer credit license which, if approved, will allow it to lend to customers.
Nebeus is already offering services like IBANs, a VISA card as well as trading in over 20 different cryptocurrencies. Future products include stock, commodity, and FOREX trading in multiple markets. Bond trading is on the list too.
Nebeus previously raised growth capital on Seedrs in 2020 when it closed a funding round of £868,000 on a funding target of £400,000.
Digital banking/neobanking is a competitive marketplace, but there is still an opportunity for providers that can provide a one-stop digital application to serve your entire financial existence. Regulatory approval from the FCA will be key to Nebeus’ future.
