Dot Investing, which Aims to Tap into Investments for Investors with Limited Access to Private Markets, Secures Funding via Crowdcube

Dot Investing, which aims to tap into investments for the £75.2tn pool of capital with limited access to fast-evolving private markets, has raised 99% (£744,625.44) of its £750,000 fundraising target (at the time of writing) from 87 investors via its crowdfunding campaign, carried out via Crowdcube, with 25 days left in the initiative’s funding efforts.

Dot Investing explains that they’re focused on “levelling the playing field for individual investors, empowering them to create higher performing, resilient and better aligned portfolios like sophisticated institutions.”

Based in the UK, Dot Investing is offering Equity; EIS. The Fintech firm is also reporting a pre-money valuation of £9,652,500 along with a share price of £1.17.

As noted in the update posted by Crowdcube, Dot’s mission is “to unlock investments for the £75.2tn pool of capital with limited access to private markets.” They’re levelling the playing field for individual investors, “empowering them to create higher performing, resilient and better aligned portfolios like sophisticated institutions.”

Key highlights:

  • 350 users and $3.71m of committed capital
  • Team from Blackrock, JP Morgan, USS, Funderbeam, UBP.
  • Strong business relationships in Europe, South America and Asia
  • First fundraise with £750k in pre-commitments from two family offices

The company has reportedly “raised £752,142.69, but only £722,142.69 off-platform investment has been reflected on the progress bar because £30,000 has already been spent by the company.”

The company further indicates “that it may spend up to £30,000 on a monthly basis whilst the pitch is live.”

As mentioned in the announcement, private markets can “outperform public markets in the long term, driving higher returns & uncorrelated risk in investment portfolios.”

Several barriers prevent individuals from accessing private markets:

  • Min investment commonly £5m+
  • Expertise required for due diligence
  • Complex legal documentation
  • No access to top investment managers

Dot enables individuals “to overcome these obstacles and invest like sophisticated institutions.”

They conduct research & due diligence “to identify & onboard compelling investment funds to meet client demand that are also supported by strong macroeconomic fundamentals.”

Dot Investing then slash “the minimum investment.”

The Global pool of capital held by HNW Individuals represents “a total available market of £75.2tn in 2020,” Dot estimates a total serviceable market of £1.5tn “in Europe and Asia-Pacific and a service obtainable market of £1.26bn for Dot Investing.”

Key achievements: FCA authorization, “registered 350 users, institutional distribution partnership in Chile, 6 funds onboarded.”

A self-financed, lean team “that has found product-market fit and are now seeking capital to expand the team & scale in the UK, Europe, South America, & Asia.”

In this funding round they have “secured investment from two family offices. Like our investors, we believe in unlocking private market access.” You may join them as they aim to  connect “the Dots in the private markets & unlock investment access.”
