Indiegogo recently released some numbers for all of 2012. This crowdfunding trailblazer experienced a great year, expanding into other countries while growing at a dramatic rate domestically. Some of their highlights for 2012 are below:

Campaigns Raised on Average 20% More. Campaigns averaged 49 days compared to 60 days in 2011. Successful campaigns raised funds for 39 days.

33% of the dollars contributed were in excess of the perk amount or they were contributed without any perk. These “altruistic dollars” increased from 23% in 2011.

45% of campaigns generated funds from more than one country.

14% of their campaigns experienced a single contributor who referred more people than the campaign owner.

64% of campaigns used video in their pitch. Videos less than 5 minutes were more successful in reaching their goal by 25%. Average video length was 3 minutes 27 seconds.
