Just as the LUCI Advanced Dream Inducer crowdfunding campaign was cancelled on Kickstarter, a competitor is preparing to launch a similar product giving crowdfunders another opportunity to participate in a dream enhancing piece of technology.
The Aurora headband by iWinks reportedly detects when you enter Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, and then presents endlessly configurable lights and sounds to you in your dream. The Aurora’s stimuli filter into your dream world and can help you become aware you’re dreaming creating a virtual reality or lucid dream type of experience.
iWink’s app supposedly allows the wearer to create their own dream stimuli by coordinating dazzling lighting effects with sounds from a music library or personal recordings.
iWinks was founded by Daniel Schoonover and Andrew Smiley who met while studying electrical and computer engineering at the University of Florida. The two co-founders shared t a passion for science, math, and eventually stumbled on the concept of Lucid Dreaming.
Over the next several years the team grew and now they are getting ready to launch a crowdfunding campaign and they are building their network on the Prefundia – pre-crowdfunding site. The device is expected to pre-tail at around $150 to $200 once it launches on the yet, unnamed crowdfunding platform.
