In their second project partnering with smallsolutions, solar energy crowdfunding platform SunFunder captured 209 crowdfunders to support a rent-to-own solar project in Uganda. This is the first time the platform has gone past the 200 individual funders for a specific project.
Social enterprise organization, smallsolutions is a social enterprise organization providing integrated renewable energy and human development solutions to energy disadvantaged people. They believe that access to modern, affordable energy services is a fundamental human right and a prerequisite for sustainable development.
This specific project is for a $20,000 loan and will help 900 members of a local farmers savings group purchase solar energy. The total project impact provides solar lighting and mobile phone charging with the Sun King Pro to 5,400 people in Uganda. Funds will be disbursed later in December.
