Brief: Goldee Beats $100K Goal For Smart Light Controller

Goldee_Logotype_TransparentGoldee is in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign using a crowdfunding platform developed in-house, and they just blew past their $100,000 goal. At the time of writing the campaign has raised just short of $130,000 from 339 backers.

We first reported on the Goldee late last month as the campaign first launched. The device is available to backers for $249 during the campaign, after which the price is expected to jump up to $349.

This is one of the more recent examples of a smart home device using crowdfunding as a means of testing the market. Crowdfunding is widely-expected to be prevalent as the “Internet of Things” takes over in 2014 and beyond.

The Goldee works by replacing a light switch in the home. It has built-in automation features that can do things like dim the lights before bed time, and deep integration with smartphones via an available app allows the user to control all of the device’s features and functionality quickly and easily.
