“LADDIE” Crowdfunding Campaign Surpasses $67k Goal on Kickstarter

With less than a week until it closes, the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the documentary “LADDIE” has surpassed its goal of $67,350. The film follows one of the most influential film moguls that “no one has ever heard of.”

As previously reported on Crowdfund Insider, the documentary explores the life of film director Alan Ladd Jr., who is also known as Laddie and is often referred as the “invisible man” of film. It draws its inspiration from several other documentaries including “MY ARCHITECT” and “KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE.” The story will be told through a combination of visuals and interviews that are conduction by Laddie’s daughter, Amanda

Among the list of Hollywood celebrities Amanda will chat with are Ben Affleck, George Lucas, Ron Howard, Sigourney Weaver, Mel Gibson, Morgan Freeman, Mel Brooks, and Richard Donner. Through personal stories, the audience will learn more about Laddie and get a special inside look at the most influential films, actors and filmmakers of the last 50 years.

Ben AffleckOriginally, Team LADDIE Movie was seeking to raise the $67,350 to fund four more films or interviews in and out of California, along with music/film clip rights and clearances; finishing costs including color correction, audio mix, final editing, etc.; film festival costs, promotions, advertising, and marketing.

The crew noted, “The biggest challenge in ‘LADDIE’ is, and has always been financial., From our illustrious interviewees to our amazing team, there is no lack of enthusiasm to work on the project in small segment with long periods of inactivity in between. The greatest risk facing ‘LADDIE’ is the stories like his never get told.”

So far, the campaign has received a total of $76,771 with a total of 218 backers. It will close on May 16th.
