RollerScoot Cruises Past £200K Equity Crowdfunding Goal

RollerScootThe RollerScoot is an award-winning, patented powered mobility vehicle which creates a new, much needed concept in the mobility market. Invented by Ian Gray, a physiotherapist with design and retail of mobility equipment experience, and backed by an advisory team with experience in international business development, growth acceleration, intellectual property and the mobility market, Rollerscoot has scooted smoothly along on its Crowdcube equity crowdfunding campaign.  Having raised over £200K with the support of 81 investors — more than £50,000 over its goal — for the 19.16% equity offered, RollerScoot’s campaign is certainly on a roll.

Imagine Seinfeld character George Costanza riding the RollerScoot instead of that infamous scooter; it’s like an upgrade to a Vespa! Gray cites removing the prevalent social stigma of mobility equipment as one of his inspirations for inventing the RollerScoot. Targeting the medical device market for both personal and commercial use,  RollerScoot provides a new form of mobility that enables users not only to Ian Graystand up more often relieving knees and joint strain, but also have the option of sitting when rest is needed.

According to the UK company’s website: “For many years, the only options for those in need of mobility assistance have been walking aids such as sticks and crutches; the rollator; the wheelchair (powered or manual); and the mobility scooter.”  The RollerScoot, on the other hand, offers:

• social empowerment – the RollerScoot makes it possible to have eye- level contact with others as well as do more of what those who can stand and move about easily take for granted (such as reach a supermarket shelf or light switch).

• maneuverability – the RollerScoot provides a stable platform that turns on its own axis, will move in any required direction, and will fit through any standard sized doorway.

• control – the RollerScoot is easily operated (including speed and direction) using a fingertip controlled joystick (by the user or a carer) and quiet and smooth power delivery from twin motors and the latest lithium-ion battery pack.

Lauded with The 2012 New Product of the Year Award and 2013 ABLE Magazine Best in Show Award at Naidex National, RollerScoot’s product details include:
