“Iron Man” Star Jon Favreau Lends A Hand to Fast Food Indiegogo Project; Announces Match Challenge (Video)

Helping a friend in need, filmmaker and actor Jon Favreau has announced his support for Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson’s new fast food restaurant Loco’l.

loco'l 2According to ContactMusic, the cooking duo launched an Indiegogo campaign last month seeking funds for the Loco’l, which will “revolutionize” fast food. The restaurant will offer fast food made with real ingredients, and will have locations in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood and Los Angeles’ Watts neighborhood.”

The campaign’s team wrote,“Our vision with Loco’l is to create a fast food concept that’s delicious, but do it with the heart of a chef.  As chefs, we’re approaching it just like we would another restaurant – design, function, systems, fee and costs, organizations, sourcing, product, farmers, ingredients, recipes, training, all that stuff.  Then on the other side of it is being very aware of what fast food is and what it’s become in America, and why it’s so important, popular, and powerful. Not trying to throw all of those things away.

Favreau, who worked with Choi to perfect his culinary skills for the 2014 movie, Chef, released a video statement declaring his support for the project, along with announcing a match challenge for potential backers.

loco'lFavreau stated, “I’m here to announce a match challenge for the Indiegogo project of Loco’l . Loco’l is the brain child of chefs Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson. It’s a restaurant that’s attempting to bring chef driven cuisine to the fast food community. They are looking to open up locations in underserviced communities and introduce a whole set of customers to a set of food they never would have had the opportunity to eat, and offer an alternative to the fast food chains.

“My match challenge is if we can get half way to their $150,000 goal, if we hit $75,000 I’m gonna kick in $7,500 in order to help with the efforts to get this project funded. Please learn more about it, I think that they’re trying something really ambitious and I really salute their efforts.”
