Crowdcube Talks Crowdfunding with JustPark & the Business of Sharing (Video)

Alex Stephany JustParkThe CEO of JustPark, Alex Stephany, and Crowdcube co-founder Luke Lang teamed up yesterday to talk about crowdfunding and the sharing economy.

JustPark is raising capital on Crowdcube right now and their funding round has hit it out of the park. JustPark connects drivers in need of convenient and affordable parking with property owners who want to earn money from renting out their underused parking space. As of today the equity crowdfunding campaign is in “Overfunding” mode standing at £2.2 million on a goal of just £ 1 million.  The JustPark equity offer broke the investor record on Crowdcube with over 2700 investors signing up (so far).

Enormous Innovation and Benefit to Consumers

The Business of Sharing Alex StephanyStephany has just published a book titled, The Business of Sharing.  The tome discusses the sharing and peer to peer economy giving a 360 degree of this new area of economic activity.  He is also of the belief that often you have too much regulation that impedes efficient economic growth and activity.  Stephany believes we will enter a new era of regulation where it will be “stripped back” and removed.  The internet is shining light on old business models increasing transparency and improving productivity.

Luke LangLang shares that Crowdcube has gotten off to a “flying start” helped in part by the success of the JustPark offer. They are seeing “hundreds” of deals each month. While the sharing sector is just a portion of these companies Crowdcube has helped to fund dozens of them. Lang notes that many investors not only want to make a return on their investment but they also want to make a difference and sharing businesses largely do just that.

The video from Bloomberg is below and definitely worth a watch.
