Update: UK’s Job Search Engines Adzuna Gains £1M on Crowdcube; Announces Top Investors

adzunaLast month, Adzuna, the UK-based job search engine today launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise  £1.5 million for its mission to “get Britain working.”

Within just a few hours, the campaign has raised over £659,330 of its £1,500,000 targeted goal for 5.89% equity offered. Now, with only a little over three weeks until its campaign comes to an end, the platform has successfully secured over £1 million thanks to nearly 260 investors. 

As previously reported, Adzuna, which was co-founded by Andrew Hunter and Doug Monroe, has already attracts six million visitors a month, but wants to increase that as part of its mission.

“Having already attracted first class institutional investors in previous funding rounds, we want to offer our users and the wider public the opportunity to be part of our journey. Our mission is to match people to better, more fulfilling jobs and keep Britain working and we are passionate about achieving it.”

 

During a recent update, both Hunter and Monroe announced:

“We are truly humbled and in awe of the list of people who have invested in Adzuna in this round already, with the combined brain power and connections of this group of people we are in a great position to build a truly amazing job search product and brand.”

The duo also revealed top investors of the campaign:

  • Robin Klein: Serial entrepreneur and investor
  • Robert Dighero: QXL, AOL
  • Sherry Coutu CBE: iii, LinkedIn, on the Board of the London Stock Exchange and author of the ScaleUp Report
  • Klaus Nyengaard: Former CEO of JustEat
  • William Reeve: Founder/MD of Lovefilm, former exec at Paddy Power and serial investor
  • CEOs/Founders of Wahanda, CapitalOne, SecretEscapes and two different HR tech businesses
  • Eamon Downes, aka Liquid who had a hit with the song Sweet Harmony.

They then added:

Funds raised from the campaign will invested in Adzuna’s technology, building on a market-leading search and machine-learning platform that aggregates over 1 million UK job ads, as well as adding smarter job market search options and data.

The campaign is set to close on July 1st.
