New “Everyday Messenger” For Cameras & Essential Carry Secures $1.2M in One Week on Kickstarter

Everyday Messenger 4Last week, San Francisco brand, Peak Designs, took to crowdfunding giant Kickstarter to raise $100,000 for its new product, the Everyday Messenger. During the first few days on the platform, the accessory successfully captured its initial goal quickly and is now sitting at $1.2 million from nearly 4,6000 backers.

Everyday Messenger 3So what’s making the Everyday Messenger the next “big thing” in crowdfunding accessories? The bag is described as a “beautiful, intelligent and adaptable messenger bag” that is designed around the workflows of photographers, creative, travelers and commuters. Peak Designs notes that Everyday Messenger is more than a camera bag, it’s the user’s day-to-day essential carry workhorse and “does things other camera bags can’t.”

The Peak Designs team then shared:

“Since no two days are quite the same, we designed a shell that expands greatly to accommodate the perpetual ‘one last thing,’ and also lets the bag maintain its shapely figure when your load is light.”

Everyday Messenger 2While revealing more details about its features, the FlexFold dividers and MagLatch, the team explained:

“FlexFold dividers allow the bag to expand and contract depending on load. Typical camera bag dividers are about 3x the thickness and designed to have a fixed width.

“The patent-pending MagLatch is a digital-safe magnetic latch that opens/closes securely, blindly and one-handedly. It can latch onto 4 different catchpoints, depending on your carry load. There’s no other piece of hardware quite like it.”

Other features of the Everyday Messenger include:

  • Everyday Messenger 5Axial strap attachments that allow strap to pivot without tangling.
  • 500D Kodra synthetic canvas shell is waxed and DWR-coated
  • Custom quick-adjust strap hardware for on-the-fly- cinching
  • Internally padded 2-inch seatbelt style strap
  • Padded, reinforced handled for briefcase style carry
  • 2 rigid EVA-foam-reinforced Capture clip attachment points
  • Gussetted front panel with 8 stretchy color-coded pockets

The Everyday Messenger will also come in two different colors, Charcoal (with red accents) and Heritage Tan (with blue accents). The bag will be available for the price of $195.

The campaign is set to close on September 20th.
