Earlier this week, former NFL wide receiver Mark Clayton took to crowdfunding platform Kickstarter with a mission to raise $75,000 for his new over-ear headphones, LIVV.
Clayton teamed up with audio specialist Dale Lott to create the headphones for active lifestyles. The project’s description reads:
“LIVV Headphones are an experience for anyone living an active lifestyle. For the extreme sports enthusiasts who live for that moment of freedom: catching big air, sprints on the gridiron, hoops on the hardwood, and free runners. LIVV Headphones are also for anyone who is active and on the go.”
Besides being wireless, other features of the LIVV Headphones include:

- Onboard 8GB MP3 storage
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Premium studio quality sound
- 12-hour rechargeable lithium ion battery
- Onboard controls
- Patented SureFit band
While sharing details about the headphones Clayton stated:
“As an athlete I count on music to get me fired up before a game and keep me going through workouts. It was a fateful Sunday that spurred the concept of LIVV that I am confident all athletes will love.”
Clayton noted that he was further inspired to create the headphones while on a plane heading a game. He noticed that a fellow teammate attempted to untangle the wires of his headphones with some frustration:
“It’s one of those moments when you see an opportunity to fix a few common problems within a crowded industry and either take the risk or not. For me, it was a no brainer. I took risks on the field and as my time was winding up with the NFL I knew this was the off the field risk I had to take.”
The headphones are available for pre-order through the Kickstarter initiative starting at $150 (early birds). Retail price will be $299.
LIVV headphones’ campaign is set to close on October 1st.
