Last month, the UK-based cross-platform shopping app, Shop n Social, launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs to raise £450,000 so that it can continue research and development.
Shop n Social, which was founded this year by entrepreneur Ajit Gupta, is described as a “revolutionary new app” that allows customers to combine all the social interaction of shopping outdoors with their friends in the comfort of their own home:
“We believe that online shopping can be fun and that giving customers complete freedom on where they can shop is good business. Our app will bring the human element back into online shopping, building on the browser experience by providing a simple interface through which a user can talk, chat, and share what they browse with friends.”
Also noting how this will help retailers, the Shop n Social team explained:
“Our application will be able to put you in touch with relevant customers. The myriad of tools provided will also allow you to promote, inform, and retain you customers using our chat rooms and promotional branding.”
Shop n Social is currently being designed to work across all websites and as the features are provided through an overlay, consumers still transact directly with the online retailer. This means that app does not store details such as usernames, passwords, credit/debit card details or stock.
Since its launch, the Shop n Social campaign has successfully secured over £250,000. The company is currently offering 18.37% in equity.
