Crowdfunding Compliance Event Adds State Securities Officials to Presenter List

Ronak Patel and Jeffery KruskeWith Title II accredited crowdfunding and Reg A+ crowdfunding picking up steam, interest is growing as to how best leverage the internet to raise capital online.  Until the JOBS Act of 2012, it was forbidden to “generally solicit” or advertise certain private placements. But at the end of 2013 that all changed as securities regulations began to catch up to the new world order of information everywhere all of the time.  Now with Title III retail crowdfunding commencing this coming May, it is the perfect time to discuss, and review, the evolving regulatory environment – even while Congress is seeking to improve on enacted internet finance rules.

Recognizing the need for information sharing and debate, Fundit, a regulatory compliance conference on crowdfunding, is scheduled to take place next week in Las Vegas.

To their credit, several state securities regulators are scheduled to speak and address attendees. The states play an important, and an occasionally controversial role, in the regulation of issuing companies.  Alongside multiple prominent industry participants including Crowdfund Insider Senior Contributors Sam Guzik and Georgia Quinn, Fundit has garnered the participation of Ronak Patel of the Texas State Securities Board and Jeffery Kruske of the Kansas Securities Commission. Texas has enacted an intrastate investment crowdfunding exemption as has Kansas.

As with most new securities exemptions, questions linger as regulators strive to adapt and manage the shifting environment. Fundit should provide a lively and robust discussion about the new world order of internet finance.
