GE Appliances’ FirstBuild Returns to Indiegogo For New Product Prisma Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Nearly one year after successfully securing $2 million on Indiegogo for the Opal Nugget Ice Maker, GE Appliances’ FirstBuild has returned to the crowdfunding platform to raise $150,000 for its new product, the Prisma Cold Brew Coffee Maker.

The company revealed that the Prisma takes only 10 minutes to make coffee. This is more than 50 times faster than standard cold brewers, which may take anywhere between 12 to 24 hours to brew.

“Traditionally, cold brew coffee is brewed on the counter or in the fridge by steeping coarse ground coffee in water for 12 or more hours. Prisma speeds up the process through a specialized vacuum infusion process. We recommend using fresh roasted, fine ground coffee for the best results.”

The product uses specialized vacuum inclusion algorithm to extract flavor rapidly from finely ground beans. The vacuum then releases after brewing. Taylor Dawson, product evangelist at FirstBuild, explained:

“When you want your coffee, you want it now, and traditional cold brew methods can’t prove that. Prisma is positioned to serve this passionate existing customer base with a better at-home cold brew experience.”

The Prisma Cold Brew Coffee Maker process is simple:

• Step 1: Add finely ground coffee and water at desired ratio
• Step 2: Press button to begin coffee extraction using vacuum infusion
• Step 3: Cold brew is automatically drained into the carafe

The company also revealed:

Those who back the campaign may receive the Prisma Cold Brew Coffee Maker starting at $229. The initiative is set to close in September.
