Update: Online Retailer Biscuiteers Nears £550,000 Funding Target on Crowdcube

With two weeks left until its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube comes to an end, online retailer of handmade ice biscuits, Biscuiteers, has secured over £500,000. The company launched the campaign earlier this month seeking £550,000 for growth and drive international expansion.

biscuiteersFounded in 2007 by Harriet Hasting and Stevie Congdon, Biscuiteers offers a range of products, including biscuits, chocolates, cakes, personalized items, wedding treats and corporate gifts. As previously reported, the company currently has two biscuit icing cafes in London and Battersea. It operates out of two industrial bakeries that are located in South London. The company claims it is the first company in the UK to offer luxurious collection of hand-iced biscuits for customers to send as gifts.

Biscuiteers products are stocked at some retailers such as John Lewis, Selfridges, and Fortnum & Mason. The company has also made biscuits for well-known brands such as Cartier, Christian Dior, and Net a Porter. Hasting recently discussed the crowdfunding campaign:

“We are fundraising now because we believe this is the right time to invest for accelerated growth into a proven model.  Our aim was to disrupt the premium gifting sector and we believe that biscuits are a unique and more personalised alternative to flowers and chocolates. We decided to crowd fund as our customers are very much at the heart of our business and we wanted to give them a chance to be part of our biscuit journey.  The funds raised will be used to invest in international expansion, manufacturing improvements and marketing.”

The campaign is set to close at the beginning of November.
