iceDrops Nearly Funded, Chill Your Whiskey With Nuts & Bolts

For those of us that have been known to enjoy a glass of whiskey from time to time, there are seemingly no shortages of alcohol-related tchotchkes on crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter. Recently I wrote about Whiskey Rox, whiskey chilling rocks made from soapstone. Now iceDrops promise design improvements over soapstone products, not to mention a more unique design to say the least!

The idea for iceDrops was born from a particularly hot summer weekend where four friends decided they wanted to cool their whiskey without adding ice. After a long conversation they had decided to proceed making ceramic ice cubes in entertaining shapes. Ice cubes in the shape of nuts and bolts are certainly a conversation starter.

A proprietary recipe of porcelain was chosen because of its ease of use in manufacturing complex shapes and for its thermodynamic properties.  Inert, durable and non-porous, porcelain perfectly addresses the need for a safe and enjoyable way to keep your drink cool.

Hip. Artisan. Functional. iceDrops expand an entire market with the introduction of complex shapes and designs to the vast spectrum of beverage consumption – and we think it’s about time.

iceDrops are made from a proprietary porcelain mix that is non-porous (so it is safe for use in beverages) and, according to the project creators, cools better than similar products made of stone.

Did I mention they come in shapes? Hearts, monoliths, x’s and o’s, stars, cubes, nuts and bolts. These should make for an interesting night with friends!

At the time of writing the campaign has a lot of ground to make up with $4K to raise in just 60 hours. What do you think? Will the campaign be successful?
