Fully Funded On Kickstarter, Gridiron Thunder Doubles Funds Thanks To Ouya Contest

Gridiron Thunder is crowdfunding on Kickstarter in order to build an arcade-style football game for the Ouya. Ouya famously raised over $8 million on Kickstarter for a cheap, Android-powered gaming console for the masses.

Early gameplay footage of Gridiron Thunder invokes memories of NFL Blitz, albeit without the same graphic polish.

One fun aspect of the game will be the mildly ridiculous (and hugely entertaining) touchdown dances players perform after scoring. You can see a short video of one on YouTube.

Game developer MogoTXT is participating in Ouya’s #FreeTheGames campaign for this campaign, and they’re now eligible after raising over $50,000. That means that Ouya is going to match backers dollar for dollar up to $250,000. The game simply has to be exclusive to Ouya for at least 6 months.
