Nick Seluk, the cartoonist behind the multiple series, The Awkward Yeti, launched a Kickstarter earlier this month for his new card game, OrganATTACK. Originally seeking only $12,000, the project quick smashed its initial goal and is currently nearly $285,000 thanks to over 6,700 backers.
OrganATTACK is described as a game that brings to life medical and pseudoscientific concepts in a twisted but surprisingly educational card game. Notably, the players’ objective is to remove their opponents’ organs before everyone else. The last player to have at least one organ is the winner. Each player receives affliction cards (which includes various situations suck as Pancreatitis). The game also has defensive cards along with tactical cards. It’s a fast-paced game for 2-5 players.
The game is offered in two decks, which are the following:
Organ Deck (20 cards):
There are 19 organs (includes major organs like the heart and brain) in the deck, plus one Organ WILD card. Each organ requires two afflictions, and an Organ WILD requires four.
Attack Deck (72 cards):
Afflictions: Removes organs after two afflictions
Wilds: Counts as one affliction (except for Necrosis Wild cards, which removes organs).
Resistance: Defensive cards against attacks
Tactical and Bureaucracy: Offers up
Poisoned: Player must remove their own organ if this card is picked up
Those who back the project may receive OrganATTACK starting at $20. Other rewards for backing the project include Skype chat (which isn’t much of a chat considering Nick will NOT talk for the entire 30 seconds), signed copies and t-shirts from the Awkward Yeti. The game is scheduled to be delivered in October 2016 (some rewards will be delivered in November 2016).
